Turn photos into laser engraving files

Kinetic Laser Studio is a free tool from Kinetic Carving. Drop in a photo, logo or line art, pick your laser and material, and download a PNG tuned to that material. You need a free Kinetic Carving account to use it, and your images never leave your browser.

What it does

• Engrave a photo: a dithered or grayscale PNG set up for the material you pick.
• Logos and line art: cleaned up to crisp black and white.
• Relief heightmaps: an AI depth map from a photo of a real object, person or animal, or clean raised shapes from a logo or line art, saved as a 16-bit PNG for CNC carving and 3D laser engraving.
• Real engrave size: set the width in millimeters or inches and the DPI, so the file comes into LightBurn at the size you want.

How it works

1. Drop your image.
2. Choose your laser type and material.
3. Download the file and engrave it.

Lasers it knows

Diode engravers (5 to 10W and 20W+), desktop CO2 (K40 class), mid-size Ruida and DSP CO2 machines, Glowforge, large CO2 (Epilog, Trotec and Laguna class), and fiber galvo lasers, including MOPA.

Materials it has settings for

Basswood, Baltic birch plywood, hard maple, cherry, walnut, pine, MDF, cork, cardboard, paper and cardstock, veg-tan leather, denim and natural fabric, cast acrylic, glass, mirror, slate, black granite, dark marble, ceramic tile, anodized aluminum, stainless steel (with Cermark or dry moly, annealing, etching and deep engraving), titanium, and brass and copper with LaserBond.
